Viaduct at River Dee

Yeah! Currently working on a new bridge or to be more precise, it is a viaduct across River Dee in Wrexham. For those who do not know where the heck is Wrexham, it is somewhere in North Wales.

This viaduct is not easy to access as it is quite high up. In order to measure this bridge, we have used a Leica TPS800 totalstation. The data which was created with the totalstation is transfered to 3D Autocad format and measured.
After we have got all the dimensions of the viaduct, it is time for me to perform structural analysis with a software package called Archie-M. Please be reminded that this is an old arch bridge which is made of masonary and was built in circa 1880. The engineers whom had designed this bridge had used 'permissable stress' method and for the purpose of bridge assessment, we have to use a method which is called MEXE and this method was developed by the British Royal Army Engineers.
